This game had so many implications to it. This was a must win game for you. This game was won because you all worked hard together. You all left everything on the field today. Not everyone shows up on the score sheet. Not everyone has a direct impact on getting us on the scoreboard. But everyone is needed to win a game like this. Starting from our goalie, Kerri Eiben was once again flawless. One penalty stroke goal but so many unbelievable saves. Our defense was a wall today and cleared out so many other Sacred Heart opportunities. Our midfield were amazing both defensively and creating opportunities offensively as well. What was really nice to see was that we scored three goals off of our corners. The first was a perfect insert from Colleen up top to Kayla and one hard shot into the goal. Once again Sacred Heart made it interesting by tying it up on a penalty stroke. Less than three minutes later Nikki would assist Molly McGurrin for her first goal of the year and VJM never looked back. You all tightened up the play, controlled the midfield and created offensive chances. Grace would give us some breathing room by scoring less than two minutes into the second half with an assist going to Nikki. Hauser would prove once again that she likes to score, this time taking a Nikki pass and bouncing it passed the goalie for our fourth goal. Nikki was all over the field today playing defense and offense and creating havoc for Sacred Heart. Colleen and Sarafina played some great hockey today with good open field dribbling and crisp passes. One blip to the game was that Julie Nachtman got injured and had to leave the game. Up until then, Jazzy and Kiera played stellar defense alongside Vicky and Dani. We played sound fundamental field hockey today against a team that has improved dramatically since the last time we played them. We still have a third of the season to go and we need to keep improving ourselves as well. One last note, todays win put us at 8-4 for the season and secured the most wins in VJM field hockey history. Congratulations to all of you.
Nothing is impossible if you all work together towards a common goal.
