Another bounce back game and that pun was intended. This field caused fits for our style of play. The field ran fast and the ball bounced anyway it wanted to today. There is little doubt that this field took its toll on the scoreboard too as many crosses flew by waiting forwards in the circles or bounced in crazy directions over the sticks ready to take a shot on goal. In the end we got the result we wanted. Although you all claimed to be frustrated at times, you have to learn to not let that affect your game. We fired over 20 shots on goal and although the Ryan goalie turned away a lot of shots, the moon surface field was your worst enemy. Maddy Major was on fire today. After a slow start, Maddy got us on the board twice in the first half with assists from Grace and Nikki respectively. Hauser didn’t take long tallying a point for us to start the second half deflecting a Colleen Lucatorto shot into the cage. Devon would just fire a shot from the top of the circle using a Ryan player as a deflector and passed the Ryan goalie. Grace would finally tame the bouncing ball and score in the final minutes off a pass from Maddy. Bridget and the defense were basically non-existent in this game. Hannah played the first half and never once touched the ball thanks to Gibbs, Devon, and Molly not allowing Ryan to get past our 25 yard line more than a couple of times. Drives were an issue today since the field played more like a parking lot than a grass field so you were asked not to drive the ball on free hits so this led to Dani Hamilton having a plan. That plan was to just dribble straight into anyone who got in her way and it worked. Devon was playing like a beast again and drawing criticism from opposing players for being too physical. Kiera was stepping up all day today and not allowing Ryan to get by her and kept on sending the ball back up to our mids all game. Kelsey, who is used all over the place in both varsity and JV games continues to amaze with her versatility. Malley has proven that she can basically be used anywhere and give any ten of our players a rest at any time. We must remember one thing and that is to stick to our game plan and not let the other team dictate how we play our game.
You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take. Wayne Gretzky, NHL Hall of Famer
