Looks like the JV wanted to one up the Varsity today. This was by far the best that the JV has looked all year. Basils is a good team and well coached and you were up to the same task to play the best game of the year. With Michaela Drobac anchoring the middle with experience and Cassie Kuchma and Kelsey adding offensive awareness up top as well as Jazz Kelly directing our defense, this was a formidable line up. One thing that does not show on the score board was how well Cassie and Michaela played in this game. Cassie was moved up to a forwards spot for an experiment and I thing we found out where she needs to play from now on. She had so many close calls in the circle and eventually her persistence will pay off. Michaela was playing her best field hockey today and created plenty of offensive opportunities for us as well as dropping back to help defensively. Mallory got her first goal of the year off a pass from Miletto. Kelsey who plays all over the place made it a 2-0 game on what she called a garbage goal. Emily Miletto took a nice pass from Butler to give us a late first half goal and send us into halftime with a 3-0 lead. Bridgett Lennon would not face one shot in the first half. Kelsey would re-enter the game in the second half and finally get the goal she wanted, a loud board banging shot. Alex Both would turn away all 4 shots she faced to secure the shutout. Jess Butler would finish off the scoring with less than two minutes remaining to wrap this one up with a 5-0 VJM victory. A great all-around game for everyone. You finally spread the field, gave support, made nice passes and marked up perfectly defensively. This game goes to show that the future of VJM field hockey looks bright. It was a nice game to coach and I am very proud of how much you have improved so far this season. Thank you all for your hard work.
