After each game, you’ve been asked to evaluate yourself, not to your entire team but only to YOU. That one question is always this: “Did I play my best and did I leave everything I had on the field?” Today the answer was definitely no. Kerri Eiben was the star of this game as she did everything possible to keep the ball out of the cage but to avail. It is hard to save 15 shots let alone 28. We did not mark up, we did not hustle, we did not step to the ball, and we did not support each other today. Blame it on an early morning away game? Possibly. But this is our season of “No excuses, no regrets” and there was no excuse to play the game we did today. However, we need to take some positive out of this game. We know we are a good team. We know we are better than what we showed today. We know we will work harder and keep improving ourselves so these types of games don’t happen again. I have always, still always, and will always believe in each and every one of you because I believe in this team. I believe that you will rise from this and do whatever is needed to fix what we need to. Let them think that they will have it easy the next time we play them. Let them think that we will not improve. Let them think whatever they want and let them also be wrong, very very wrong. We have a lot of season left and we don’t need to base our season on the three games we have lost so far. We will base our season on the end result and that is to be the best Villa Joe field hockey team that has ever stepped onto the field.
